So Joey and I found some garbage today and I took a magazine called FACT, Volume Two, Issue Three. So flipping through the pages, I stumbled upon (I hate that phrase now because of the website, but I feel like it fits fairly well phonologically here) an image of the below documentation. Warning: This is no crazy discovery or cool "fact" as the subject calls for. Just an observation. So anyway, the calligraphy of the title "Love In The Subway" reminded me of the Saks Fifth Avenue logo. Of course the former is a bit more exciting, but who cares. I think it's cool. Now we're listening to a record that was also a garbage gem called Money Lotion.

How lovely it would be to be in New York City for this event.

SO! The Eat, Drink and Be Pretty Fashion Show was so much fun! I was given a little more responsibility this time by going to Moody Blues to pick up the women's outfits and two racks. When I got there things were just being set up but there was a lot to do like having the models try on their outfits and if it didn't work out we'd have to figure it out, pretty much. Put the looks in a cohesive order and for the first time I experienced male models, so we had to incorporate their looks into the show, too. That was fun. I liked helping Nelson with the bathing suits, I think because it was very detail-oriented with the accessories. He really did a great job with the vibe of the show. It was really professional and so much more organized than some past ones. I'll put pictures up later.

An Evening of Romance Fashion Show

So in February, a day or two before Valentine's Day, I worked at this fashion show at the Montelucia Resort, which is an Intercontinental hotel (see paradise). I worked as a dresser backstage and it was a lot of fun because they always start late so the other dressers and I got to admire the lingerie while off the models for a while. It was really fast-paced, as always, and very up-close-and-personal...I mean...I was in charge of putting bras and panties on these girls. And attaching those weird straps. Anyway, this girl in the picture below with me and Nelson is awesome, she lives in the same apartment complex as me, has a fantastic internship that I'd die for, AND I CAN'T REMEMBER HER NAME! So if you know it, help me out because I need to hang out with this girl.

I feel like he was at the peak of his game with those armadillo shoes and now we will never be able to witness whatever he had in store for us next. I wish I could express in more detail just how inspired I am by him, but my words mean nothing. All day I wished I was in the snow playing with all the elves, but instead I searched through craigslist because it has strangely become my newest obsession. Do you do countdowns? For some reason I love counting down the days/hours/minutes/seconds to everything. There is so much to look forward to! But I don't want to waste time in the present thinking about the future either. It's so hard to balance the two, really. If we truly wanted to live only in the here and now we wouldn't waste our time at jobs, but hey, we need money for the future. And if you want that nice house, you have to start looking now. And if you want to get into that good college/program/internship, you need to be applying NOW. But right at this moment, I just want to look at pictures of pretty things I will one day own; not now.

Joshua Radin & Schuyler Fisk - Paperweight

So I am female (and occasionally a romance sap), which means I went to see Dear John last night. It was really wonderful. The ending was a bit disappointing, my friend even said very loudly at the end "THAT'S THE FUCKING ENDING?". But really, I was so incredibly impressed with a few scenes out of Channing Tatum. Yes, he's a gorgeous man in a body only the best artists, and perhaps God, can sculpt. Which is why it is nice to see him in something that doesn't require only shirtless scenes (see Step Up or any movie he's ever done in the past). He cried, I cried. It reminded me of the scene in A Walk to Remember when the guy cries on the way home from his Dad's. Man, did I cry at that scene. So anyway, the movie had a refreshing amount of humor, which made it all the more real in the end. All I really wanted to say was how impressed I was with Tatum's performance, although he did at first have that same role of his where he doesn't say much, doesn't seem interesting, but still looks pretty all the same. Oh! And there was a bunch of Joshua Radin, which is always cool by me. Now for the pictures:

And, of course, out of all the previews, I have to want to see the new Robert Pattinson movie. Ugh. I swear, this vampire shit is really getting extreme and I thought he was so ugly in those movies but he actually looks attractive in this next one. Also, I saw the filming for this outside of NYU. Thanks to all the screaming fans outside, I knew what the fuck was going on.

I have recently taken a liking to globes. I don't know why but I did say out loud last week that I want a nice antique-y globe in my house. I don't know where I would put it, but I want it. And maybe an antique-y map. I was in an apartment where the kids living there had access to an elementary school during late hours (yeah, I'm trying to say it in the least sketch way possible) and uhh...borrowed some signs and maps. Like signs that say Janitor, which is outside the bathroom, for example. And physical education was in front of one of the boys bedrooms. I thought that was clever. Well anyway, the maps they had were the kind that sit above the chalkboard that the teacher attempts to pull down but it's always an awkward experience for both teacher and students. Anyway, they looked really cool throughout the apartment.

I haven't been keeping up with any blogs lately and I feel lazy but at the same time I'm really busy. I'm crossing my fingers for an internship this summer. I'm pretty confident it will happen since I'm thinking so far in advance and getting in contact with so many people already. It really is a good feeling to do something that will benefit me and I'm doing it with no help from anyone else. I mean obviously, having connections and networking is the main reason why this would even work out in my favor, but no need for mommy or daddy to call people and do it for me. I feel very independent and really hope I can live either with Joe or with friends in BK (like the coolest little hipster I are) and just do what I love to do. I was naive last year thinking I'd live above grandpa, although I would still LOVE to do that. But I really long for 40 oz, sweaty from the humidity, chillin' on rooftops, nights.

I hope I can save enough money until then so I won't have to work on the weekends. To be honest, I'm broke and I kind of like it. PB&Js, ramen, toast and mom's leftovers...yum.

Mercedes Benz Fashion Week is quickly approaching. I'm pretty excited, especially for my friends working there! I love mah babies. I thought about signing up for that whole volunteer thing on the website but school ruins that. BUT I did attempt to win tickets and the winner was supposed to be announced tonight but still hasn't been so I'm kinda freakin' about that.

We took the sunset Jeep tour, which means getting back into town when it is fairly dark, which means getting out of dinner around 7:30, which means seeing all of these stars on the drive home. How crazy is this? I have NEVER seen stars like this before in my life! Like this is legit Milky Way. It made me feel real small, like that feeling you get when you're watching a movie and they start the shot off with a view of the Earth from outer space and quickly zoom in through the atmosphere and get closer to the country/state/city/street and then the camera is right in the actor's face, you know? They did it at the beginning of Burn After Reading, as I'm sure they did for plenty of other movies but that's the first that comes to mind. Anyway, it was amazing.

So these are some pictures from Joe's yashica mat. The first two were taken in NYC so I wasn't there for that, but they're really cool. We ate at this coffee shop when I came to hang out for Halloween and I don't remember what we ate but I remember it being delicious.

This was in my apartment. It's sad how excited I am over the fact that that carton of orange juice was $1.99 for a Manager's Special. Fry's is my second home.

The incredibly annoying but fantastically decorated house across the street from my parents'. There are these little santa/snowmen that line the sidewalk that continuously sing Jingle Bells. We have a love/hate relationship.

Oak Creek Canyon. I'm told this is an awkward stance. I don't know what they talkin' 'bout. Anyway, I am so happy I got to see snow this winter because if I didn't get to, I'd probably cry. The thought of not being in snow in the winter is so depressing to me. I feel bad for those people who go until their teens or twenties without seeing/feeling/playing in snow because of where they grew up. That's why NJ is the best; you get to experience all four seasons!

These pictures were taken the same day as the above snowy ones, only a couple miles south in the pretty town of Sedona. We took one of those Jeep tours. Very touristy, but so worth it.

OK. So the story behind this is a bunch of friends got together to drop acid and one friend (who happens to be Dan Deacon) decided to go into the closet. He started talking to himself and his friends recorded it. Liam Lynch ("My United States of Whatever") animated it with a gecko. Dan Deacon, of course, denies being on acid, stating he was simply talking back to his tv with its sound off in a Long Island accent. The world may never know. Seems weird now but just you watch. It's hysterical.

He started telling me about this look he likes to pull out on special occasions that he calls the "Vegas Look". He explained a look that both me and my mom find incredibly sexy on any guy, and that is jeans (dark wash and boot cut preferably), a white V-neck t-shirt and a dark blazer over it. My friend likes to pair white slip-on Vans with the outfit, but it really could go any way with that outfit. Anyway, I just remember my Mom loving that look and now I guess I do, too. I tried creating something on polyvore to show this in a womens' wear kind of way, but it is just so much better on men.

So this blog is supposed to be dedicated to fashion, yadda yadda yadda, but too bad. Art, interior design, books and other creative and artsy fartsy things will pass through here, too, and I don't know why I feel the need to announce it? but I just wanted to make that point I guess.

These are all paintings by Rachel Maxi and I don't know about you but I think they are AMAZING. I can't get over how real the van looks and the fact that a painting of something so ordinary and dirty and gnarly can come out so beautiful and sentimental and impressive. One man's trash is another man's treasure, eh?
